New Mexico Food Pathways helps local food businesses take the next step with tailored support to become SNAP-authorized, expand their operations, and increase access to healthy, affordable food in underserved communities.

Improving access to staple and perishable foods in rural and underserved areas is essential to building a stronger, more resilient food system. Our program provides business development support aligned with statewide efforts to ensure more New Mexicans can get the food they need.

How It Works

  1. No-Cost Business Consulting

  2. Access to Capital: Grants and Low-Interest Loans

  3. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) application support

Who Should Apply:

This program is built for food businesses committed to healthy food access

​​

  • Grocery stores, farmers’ markets, corner stores, and mobile markets

  • Food co-ops and rural food retailers

  • Enterprises planning to expand into direct-to-consumer sales

  • Located in eligible rural areas

  • Must accept SNAP benefits

  • ​​Must be a for-profit business
